However, many English as a foreign language (EFL) learners face challenges in learning this skill due to a lack of exposure to authentic texts. Reading is a core of English language learning skills. These findings have a number of educational implications. In particular, they felt that active learning allows students to improve their critical thinking and reading comprehension, as well as teamwork, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities. The result reveals that the participants had a favorable view of the role of active learning. The participants were twenty-six teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) from the province of Vinh Long. The questionnaire and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data from two sources. The paper conducted a descriptive study in order to identify the active learning approaches employed by EFL teachers in reading classrooms at private language centers and investigates their perspectives on the role of active learning in reading instruction. Due to that gap, the current study was conducted to investigate teachers' perceptions regarding active learning techniques used in reading classrooms and the role active learning plays in reading instructions. Although a few studies have been conducted on teachers' perceptions and practices of active learning in classrooms, few studies have been conducted in Vietnamese contexts on teachers' perceptions and practices of the function of active learning in reading classrooms. In recent years, scholars and educators of the English language have shown a lot of interest in the active learning approach. The researcher suggests further studies should focus on factors that affect ER processes and conduct experimental research to evaluate ER advantages. From the results of the study, ER proves its advantages by what students gained, such as the ability to comprehend reading passages and to make inferences or predictions. Students believe that ER activities help to improve reading competence and unconsciously build up a reading habit for readers.

The findings of the study claim that students applied ER to their reading processes through free reading, free topics, and non-pressure on reading tasks. Data were collected from 36 participants who are master's candidates at a university in Southern Vietnam through a 3-Likert scale questionnaire and a semi-interview on study issues. Extensive reading is considered to be a useful reading technique to arouse students' reading abilities. This study aimed to explore students' perceptions of ER and its benefits on reading comprehension. Several studies have shown the effectiveness of extensive reading (ER) in English as a second language (ESL) and English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms. Furthermore, students believed that the classes assisted them in improving their vocabulary, grammar, and confidence. Despite the fact that the Aptis pre-test caused substantial problems in every category, there were substantial changes in students' views after the post-test. After that, the data's average value, percentage, and standard deviation were calculated. After the pre-test, the first online questionnaire was sent out, and the second was delivered immediately following the post-test. The participants are 67 non-English major students enrolling in Aptis preparation courses for the summer semester of 2021. Within the boundaries of the study paper, the objective of the piece was to identify the challenges that students commonly experience when doing two Aptis components: listening and reading. Therefore, the students have a continual struggle to obtain suitable Aptis test scores. The university adopted Aptis as a standardized examination since it was created by British Council specialists in language testing and is based on the most recent assessment research. In order to standardize non-English major students' English skills, Hoa Sen University develops English-language graduation criteria at the B1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
